How It All Began...

On July 11, 2023, I went to the doctor for my first physical exam in about 20 years. I was expecting some bad news, but I was not expecting to be immediately diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol. My A1c was 10.1, and my fasting glucose level was 243. Not good, boys and girls. My blood pressure was 146/94. My trigicerides were a staggering 395.

I was a lot sicker than I realized. I knew I was obese, but I had no idea that these other issues were happening. The doctor immediately put me on Metformin for my diabetes, Losartan for my high blood pressure, and Rosuvastatin for my high cholesterol levels.

The doctor said that I needed to immediately change what I was eating and begin to exercise more. He said that if I lost enough weight, ate healthier, and exercised more, I could reverse all of this and hopefully get off of all of these meds eventually.

The doctor sent me home with some prescriptions to pick up and a lot to think about...
